It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, But We Like It
25 Jun 2012
Almost as good as a comeback tour, never before seen photos from the 1972 tour of the legendary rock-and-roll band, the Rolling Stones, were published today! Photographers used to have a lot more of a personal relationship with musicians, being allowed access to all the behind the scenes shots. (Almost Famous, anyone?) Photographer Jim Marshall caught the Rolling Stones in all their glory.
Passing away in 2010, Jim Marshall worked 52 years as a photojournalist who was proud to say “he never got a complaint from any subject, manager, or record company.” In the soon to be released book, “The Rolling Stones 1972,” by Jim Marshall and band member Keith Richards, Richards says “Once Jim was in, he was another Stone.” Marshall made sure to respect his work as an artist by saying in his novel “Not Fade Away, ”I’m 95 percent involved in the moment and the other five percent of me is working the camera, being the mechanic. … I want someone to see those people, not my picture of them.”
Which rock and roll legend are you a fan of?
