Master the ‘Surfer Girl Hair’ Look

Are you a fan of surfer girl hair?  Blake Lively makes it seem effortless, but we know sometimes it’s not so easy! We’ve listed a few tips to help you achieve the look without the headache:

Okay, so the goal is to make sure it looks as if your hair has been kissed by the sun and tousled by salt water, not mangled with bedhead. (We’ve all been there…)

You can get this look by starting either with wet or dry hair.  If you opt for wet, douse it with sea salt spray.  We suggest something like Tigi Catwalk Session Series Salt Spray.  Scrunch it with your fingers until the style has time to air dry.  If you’re already starting dry, mist it with hairspray and twist sections around your fingers to create volume and dimension.  Rumor has it that Rebecca Romijn is a fan of Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz for this method.

If you actually are hitting the waves, we recommend tying your hair into a braid.  That way when you come out and have to brush through, it won’t break as much.  Try a wide-toothed comb for less strain on your hair.  Also, remember to spritz some leave-in conditioner beforehand, so strands stay hydrated!

Love Is Savage

That is until Don Winslow‘s best-selling crime novel made the New York Times’ Top 10 Books of 2010 and was taken to the big screen by three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone.  Starring Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, and Aaron Johnson, Savages is a suspenseful, action-packed thriller about three friends in the marijuana business that show just what lengths people will really go to for love.  With Selma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro heading a Mexican Baja cartel that demands the three join forces with them, only one thing can convince these boys do what she wants.

Giving these Savages their edgier look is none other than Academy and Emmy award-winning make-up and special effects artist Christien Tinsley of Tinsley Transfers and Tinsley Studios. This is just one film in an endless list of big name movies and television that he’s given his magical touch. We can’t wait to see these tattoos up close in theaters.

There is no one place. I have several favorites, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Online Shopping Clubs, eBay and Designer Sample Sales to name a few.

What’s a good way to try out new trends? 

Go play dress up at the store, and see if the trends suit you. If they don’t look good, then there is no point buying trendy wear.

How many good shoes should a girl have?

Oh, dangerous question. I say 10 pairs. I just learned from my doctor that I shouldn’t be wearing flats ALL the time, so it’s important to have some heels, some flats and good walking shoes or work out shoes.

What’s a good nail color for fall?

I like lavender or reds for the holidays.

Which celebrities have good personal style?

Generally, I like Cate Blanchett, Blake Lively, Charlize Theron and Irena Medavoy.
