Dine Out: It Makes Cents

For those of you wondering what to make for dinner tonight, put down your cooking utensils. No shopping lists have to be written and no leftovers eaten because today is National Dine Out Day! Unlike other fun “National (fill in the blank) Day,” this day comes with good cause. MasterCard has teamed with Stand Up to Cancer, the Entertainment Industry Foundation‘s charitable program established by affected industry leaders.

Co-founded by Katie Couric, this foundation has come together with the help of countless celebrities and broadcast networks to compile funds to further cancer research. Broadcast networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC simultaneously stop all commercials for the Stand Up to Cancer Show, hosted this year by Gwyneth Paltrow and Joel Gallen.

So for those of you who haven’t been able to participate in the various cancer runs such as Relay for Life, here’s the perfect alternative that allows you to still do your part. If you have a MasterCard, you can register to Stand Up to Cancer with the easy to use MasterCard app. MasterCard will double their donation from 1 cent to 2 cents when you dine out today and use your card. Gather friends and family, and why not foot the bill, because tonight dinner is going to truly be special.

A Helping Hand

Donating some money, an old car, or your time on a mission trip can help Feed the Children nationally and internationally. The program aids children and families suffering from hunger due to famine, war, poverty or natural disasters. The American Cancer Society bring awareness to the fight against cancer in a variety fundraising ways including Relay for Life, a 24 hour walk/jog/run-a-thon. There are so many ways to give back and we can’t wait to give a hand.
