Sugar Loco Gives Rave Reviews for Coupa Cafe’s Desserts

Sugar Loco, an online dessert website featuring the best from all over the nation, is known for interviewing the top pastry chefs, featuring the most delicious recipes, and posting tasty treats for kids. Editor Alana DeLeon-Lott graciously visited P3R Publicity‘s client Coupa Café in Beverly Hills to try their delectable Venezuelan desserts.

Coupa Café is a hidden gem amongst Beverly Hills waiting to be discovered. Chef and owner Camelia Coupal prepared  for Sugar Loco her rich Chocolate Mousse made from 100% Venezuelan cocoa, that Alana found “light, airy and deliciously rich.” The editor noted that this recipe has been passed down two generations stating she could “taste the love and care that goes into this recipe.” Next up was Tres Leches that Alana found the BEST she has ever tasted, which is an honor coming from a dessert critique. Made with three milks, one secret to Camelia’s recipe, this Tres Leches was “melt in your mouth amazingness.” Lastly, Alana tried the irresistible Quesillo, a Venezuelan staple dessert with the flavor of rum and Venezuelan Crème Caramel. Next time you start reaching for your traditional dessert, make sure to head over to Coupa Café and try what they have to offer. To read the whole review click HERE.

Julia Child Turns 100

Happy birthday, Julia Child!  If she had lived, she would be 100 today!   Still a prominent foodie figure, her relevance was proven with the recent movie Julie & Julia, featuring Meryl Streep playing her character.

Famous for being a francophile, her beef bourguignon is perhaps Julia Child’s most famous recipe and the subject of her very first televised episode of ‘The French Chef’ on PBS.  The original recipe can be found in Julia’s first book, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” Click HERE for the recipe!

Standing at 6’2″ Child not only commanded attention with her tall frame, but her vibrant and warm personality. Through her television show and cookbooks, Julia demonstrated that cooking doesn’t have to be intimidating!

“Learn how to cook — try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless and above all have fun.”  Another favorite quote that shows why she is so beloved, ”Always remember: If you’re alone in the kitchen and you drop the lamb, you can always just pick it up. Who’s going to know?”

You can visit her “kitchen,” which is on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Wine and dineLA This Summer

You don’t have to wait until October, because dineLA now comes three times a year! Normally a bi-annual event, dineLA Restaurant Week has just expanded its dates for the First Annual Summer Week! So what does this mean for the lucky Angelenos? Foods that ripen during the summer months will be added to the menu! This means any of your favorites from corn to stone fruits.

Now you can taste the summer’s best from July 16-27 choosing from a prix-fixe 2-course lunch menu for $15/$20/$25 and 3-course dinner menu for $25/$35/$45. We want to try every restaurant at least once, but since there are only a limited amount of hours in a day we chose some of our favorites: Susan Feniger’s STREET for International, Lukson for Contemporary Asian, Hostaria del Piccolo for California Italian,  Coupa Café for Venezuelan, and Comme Ca for French.

Patti Pietschmann of the Examiner raves about the menu Coupa Café has put together for the 12-day foodie feast.

Which restaurant are you excited to try?

P3R’s Ode to LA: Jody’s Hot Spots

Food brings people together and what better way to bring together your friends and family than to try some of P3R’s favorite Los Angeles based restaurants!

Who: Jody, Senior Director of the Fashion Department

When We’re Not in the Office You Can Find Us:

  1. Pace in the Canyon has the best pizza in LA. Actually let me clarify, they have the best gourmet style pizza. Mulberry, which my boyfriend will agree has the best New York style pizza. The Ivy may have the prawn and pancetta pizza which is super yummy however, it is no Hercules pizza (add jalapenos) from Pace.
  2. Blue Plate Oysterette; great Santa Monica spot to hang out at on sunny day with some Lobster Mac and cheese, need I say more?
  3. The Farmers Market at the Grove is the food court from heaven. Best spot there, the Loteria counter.  The tortilla soup (add chicken tinga), taco sampler and fried plantains are beyond amazing. Now open at the Third Street Promenade.
  4. Sunset Marquis Villa Pool, right in the middle of West Hollywood off of Sunset Boulevard, yet miles away from it all. Poolside with some rose on a summer Sunday, is the best.
  5. Abbott Kinney is a wonderful walking street and of course Gjelina is a cornerstone of the Venice scene. Their entire menu is delicious, however you must save room for their Butterscotch Pot de Crème, best dessert ever.
Speaking of best desserts ever, what would you consider to be the best dessert you’ve ever had?
