It’s A Green Green World

Earlier this year Pantone announced that emerald would be THE color for 2013.  And color of the year it is! Hollywood has embraced this color,  with the release of Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful. Off the screen as well, emerald has been seen everywhere! Celebrities like Mila Kunis, Miranda Kerr, and even Kate Middleton all the way across the big pond, have been spotted donning this color. Sephora even collaborated with Pantone to create an emerald colored make up collection. With St. Patty’s day just a week away, there is no reason not to embrace this luminous and magnificent hue. P3R’s fashion client, Single, has  an array of emerald dresses that will help you be “pinch free”.

The Great Outdoors, Indoors

Everyone wants a little more fresh air and this summer, no matter your amount of free time, you can bring the outdoors to you. Adding plants and nature’s best to your house not only makes it more “green” and eco-friendly, but also allows fresh oxygen to be released into your home. This is one summer project you won’t be able to stop.

1. The most simple way to add a breath of fresh air is to buy a plants (if you can keep them alive!) Plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen to the atmosphere. Put it by your window for sunlight and it can bring fresh air to you all summer long.

2. Wheatgrass can give a touch of green to anywhere in your home. It’s perfect as a splash of color as well for blending in a drink. This plant has been thought to have properties ranging from supplemental nutrition to curative qualities.

3. Make a terrarium! This is a fun DIY project or one that be done with friends and family. It can be displayed anywhere and you can choose the plants and even little creatures you would like to put inside.

4. Use natural textiles and most importantly natural flooring such as real wood, cork, and bamboo to give your home the feel of the outdoors, around you and beneath your feet.

Have you ever taken a wheatgrass shot?

Earth Day: Good For The Wallet and Planet

This year’s Earth Day is centered around the theme “one billion acts of green,” which promotes individuals to make simple environmentally friendly changes.  It encourages people to reduce their carbon footprint by switching off lightbulbs and walking short distances rather than getting in their cars.

We’ve heard this a million times, though.  Riding your bike a few times a week or refilling  the same water bottle sometimes doesn’t make you feel that your actions are making a huge change for the planet, right?  Instead of feeling like it doesn’t make a difference for the globe, think about the difference in your wallet.  Insignificant acts of “green” directly impact your daily expenses.
