Vote In The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Just like how you decide the winners of American Idol, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s class of 2013 will be chosen by you! The fate of these music legends will be in your hands, so we have some history to inform you just how much your vote counts.

To be eligible for Hall of Fame nomination, these artists must have released their music at least twenty-five years before their nomination year. That means for all of you in love with the 80′s, here’s your chance to vote for some oldies but goodies. New to the ballot this year are “seminal hip-hop acts N.W.A. and Public Enemy.” Those on the ballot had their hits prior to 1987, including Blues guitarist Albert King who has been eligible since ’87. For those of you who have been anxiously waiting the new nominees, Rush, Deep Purple, The Marvelettes, and Procol Harum have been added as first-timers!

Starting today and going on until December 5, you can vote at Rockhall.com to get your favorite rockers into the top 5 who will become part of the special “fan’s ballot.” This will be counted alongside the 600 artists, historians, and industry members’ who make up the international voting body. Come December, you watch the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony aired on HBO to see if your rock love made it into rock history.

The Primetime Emmy Awards’ Hits and Misses

The Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles ushered in the stars on Sunday night as the Primetime Emmy Awards kicked off its 64th year of recognizing the best in show. As predicted, the night was not complete without scripted comedy, the resonating acceptance speech, and the unexpected winners who edged out those widely expected to win. Here is a recap list of some winners who got the chance to take home the prize.

It was no surprise that the winner of “Outstanding Comedy Series” went to Modern Family as the Emmy veteran picked up three Emmys in total, earning also “Outstanding Supporting Actor” and “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.”

The “Outstanding Miniseries or Movie” category saw a new winner with the HBO hit series Game Change that won over the expected winner American Horror Story. Game Change also picked up “Outstanding lead actress in a miniseries or movie,” putting its award total at two for this year’s Emmys.

Perhaps the biggest winner of the night goes to Showtime’s Homeland. This drama/thriller swept its categories, earning Emmys in all three of its nominated categories of “Outstanding Drama Series,” “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” and Claire Danes for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.”

Amongst other notable winners were Jessica Lange for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in American Horror Story, Jon Cryer for Lead Actor in Two and a Half Men, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart for “Outstanding Variety Show.” View the Emmys 2012 complete winners list HERE.

The Vampire Apocalypse

As if vampires have actually infiltrated our lives, they have taken over the big screen. From the fantasy romance series of Twilight by American author Stephanie Meyer and director Catherine Hardwicke to the HBO series True Blood, written by Charlaine Harris and created by Emmy award-winning Alan Ball, people just can’t seem to get enough of vampires. Now, hitting theaters today is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, about the untold secret life of our 16th president and his relentless hunt for the vampires plotting to take over the United States.

Based on the novel and screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith, Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov have chosen to resurrect this adaptation and make it into a film. Starring Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper, we’ll see if Lincoln has what it takes to stop these zombies once and for all.
