“Art Deco”, “Art Modernes” or “Modernistic Art”…..any way you say it, “GATSBY” will give you an eyeful!

With the buzz surrounding the forthcoming “Great Gatsby”, the term “Art Deco” is rolling off of everyone’s tongues. However, a little known fact is that to the contemporaries of the 1920′s the movement/style wasn’t called ‘Art Deco’. The style was called ART MODERNES in France and MODERNISTIC ART in the United States. The term “Art Deco” wasn’t coined until the mid/late 1960′s. Just a little fun fact for all you lovers of the period….such as myself.
For you ladies, what better way to get into the period than with the very chic Cloche and Bucket hats and Los Angeles pr firm, P3R  is happy to let you know that our client D&Y has the answer for you!  Be sure to get one and feel the spirit of (the worlds very first “IT” girl) Clara Bow, Joan Crawford, Josephine Baker, Daisy Buchanan and Zelda Fitzgerald – iconic flappers of the 1920′s – who set the tone for their “Jazz Age” contemporaries.  I hope the movie is a success!Deco Pic 2 ~ Omar

Fans Get Involved In ‘The Runelords’ Movie Process

It’s not everyday that you hear fans get a say in what happens in the development in a feature length film!  The Runelords Movie took a unique route, involving the already-huge fan base that Runelords acquired from the fantasy series written by David Farland.

Farland penned the screenplay as well, and the film development is still in early phases. In an effort to reach out to fans, they have created multiple movie contests with substantial prizes.

There was a Movie Art contest, with winners already posted on the “Runelords” movie website. And, there is Movie Trailer/Scene contest with a $500 prize and chance for a walk on role in the movie. Submissions are still being taken in for the Movie Trailer contest!

David Farland recently took time to discuss The Runelords Movie and the contests in the following Examiner exclusive Q & A: Click HERE to read the full article by Lori Melton.

Master the ‘Surfer Girl Hair’ Look

Are you a fan of surfer girl hair?  Blake Lively makes it seem effortless, but we know sometimes it’s not so easy! We’ve listed a few tips to help you achieve the look without the headache:

Lively, from 'Savages,' sporting Tinsley Transfers tattoos and beachy waves

Okay, so the goal is to make sure it looks as if your hair has been kissed by the sun and tousled by salt water, not mangled with bedhead. (We’ve all been there…)

You can get this look by starting either with wet or dry hair.  If you opt for wet, douse it with sea salt spray.  We suggest something like Tigi Catwalk Session Series Salt Spray.  Scrunch it with your fingers until the style has time to air dry.  If you’re already starting dry, mist it with hairspray and twist sections around your fingers to create volume and dimension.  Rumor has it that Rebecca Romijn is a fan of Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz for this method.

If you actually are hitting the waves, we recommend tying your hair into a braid.  That way when you come out and have to brush through, it won’t break as much.  Try a wide-toothed comb for less strain on your hair.  Also, remember to spritz some leave-in conditioner beforehand, so strands stay hydrated!

Hats Off to You Dads

Stumped at what to do with a dad that seems to have everything he could ever want? He probably just wants to spend time with his loved ones (aka, you!)  Here are some fun ideas to help celebrate Father’s Day in an awesome way:

1. Surprise your dad and wake up early to hit the golf course with him. Whether it’s 9 or 18 holes, or even the driving range he’ll appreciate you coming out, even if you’re just his caddy.

2. Who can ever get enough sports? Take him to a home game of any sport! If you live near LA, no matter who your team is, the beloved Los Angeles Dodgers are playing the Chicago White Sox at Dodger Stadium at 1:10PM.

3. For a relaxing afternoon hit up some local music. Be sure to check out neighborhood bars and restaurants. There may even be a concert in the park. At the Hollywood Bowl this weekend is the 34th annual Playboy Jazz Festival playing with music from 3 PM – 10:30PM.

4. Give dad a break tonight and let him rest up with the good company of his family before he goes back to hitting the work week hard. It’s the perfect night to go out for a movie, say the LA Film Festival in DTLA.

Is your planned activity with your dad not on our list? Feel free to share more ideas!
