Hottest Fashion Trend At The 2013 Oscars

The Oscars 2013 was not shy of glamour as Hollywood’s finest dressed in the most glamorous gowns to attend one of Hollywood’s most coveted events.

At the 85th Academy Awards, the Oscar for the hottest trend goes to the “palest colored gowns”. Soft hues were worn by actresses such as: Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, and Amy Adams.  Jennifer Lawrence, “Best Actress” winner for her roll in Silver Playbook Lining, graced the red carpet in an ivory couture Dior gown. Anne Hathaway, “Best Supporting Actress” winner for her roll in Les Miserables, wore a pale hue column Prada gown. Amy Adams, “Best Supporting Actress” nominee for her roll in The Master, wore a lilac Oscar de la Renta princess dress.

The Prestigious Kodak turns into Hollywood and Highland

With the Oscars going on right now, we thought we’d divulge a few facts about the famous venue!

Inside the theatre

1. Since it’s 2001 opening, the Kodak Theatre has played host to the Academy Awards every year.

2. In a recent bankruptcy settlement (last week) a judge granted Kodak’s request to remove their name from the building, now making it the Hollywood and Highland Center.

3. The theatre was designed by David Rockwell, specifically with the Oscars in mind.

4. Cirque du Soleil’s new show, Iris, is hosted at this venue.  The premise of Iris is “A Journey Through the World of Cinema,” so it makes sense that the show is in the heart of hollywood.

5. In addition to the Academy Awards, this venue has been host to many other events, including; The ESPY Awards, American Idol, BET Awards, Miss USA Pageant, 33rd and 34th Daytime Emmy Awards, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and many others.

Oscar Nominees: Surprises & Snubs

Rooney Mara, previously considered a “Best Actress” outsider, has earned the Oscar nomination for her performance in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”  This attention has now brought comparisons between her and Audrey Hepburn! Fans of Mara can continue to support her by voting in the upcoming fantasy film adaptation of The Runelords.

SNUBBED: Fans of the Harry Potter series were hoping that the Academy Awards would recognize the cinematic achievements by nominating the eighth and final film of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two in a major category (Best Picture).  The movie earned three nominations, but in technical categories.

Deathly Hallows will be battling in the Visual Effects category with other strong films, such as Hugo, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Rise of the Plant of the Apes, and Real Steel.  And that’s a difficult category as well since Hugo is garnering a great deal of attention.

SURPRISED: Hugo leads with 11 nominations over The Artist’s 10.  Martin Scorsese’s 3D film has surpassed people’s expectations since Alexander Payne‘s The Descendants was supposed to be The Artist’s rival film.  The Descendants received only 5 nominations.
