The Brits Go Out with a Bang

As the torch goes out tomorrow, the London Olympic Games will come to an end. Just like the celebratory Opening Ceremony, the music-heavy culture of England is bringing together UK’s hottest artists for the Olympic Closing Ceremony. Leading the ceremony is artistic director Kim Gavin, known for his knowledge in the pop genre, and with a title like “A Symphony of British Music” we can only imagine the degree to which he’ll blow us away!

This star-studded event will bring in pop group sensation One Direction, to touch teen hearts around the world, and even more impressive it will reunite the Spice Girls for a much overdue performance.  Although speculations have risen as to whether the Spice Girls will go through with their performance, if done, this might be the last Spice Girls showing ever! It also wouldn’t be a British show without the beloved Adele!

Going more classic rock, the legendary bands Muse and The Who will also be in attendance. The Muse wrote the London Olympic theme song and are expected to perform their hit song “Survival.” Even 80′s pop sensation George Michael and British rock star Russell Brand can’t stay away from this limelight. With performers like Ed Sheeran performing with members of Pink Floyd and Ray Davies from the Kinks, we can’t wait to rock out!

‘Til next time, Summer Olympics- see you in Rio!

Are you happy with this year’s Olympics results?

Spice Girls’ ‘Viva Forever’ The Musical

Mark your calendars, children of the ’90s, because on December 11 there’s a new musical that is set to open on London’s West End revisiting your favorite songs from the decade!  The Spice Girls are back, in the musical entitled ‘Viva Forever!’  The show was a collaborative effort between Judy Craymer, the producer of Abba musical Mamma Mia! and the international girl group.

Sounds a little like ‘Spice World’ to us, but rumor has it there will more in depth character features and plot lines. Jennifer Saunders wrote the script and says, ”It isn’t just an excuse to put the Spice Girls’ songs on stage.  It’s a beautiful story, properly told. Whether you like the Spice Girls or not you will love these songs within a musical.”

According to producers, ‘Viva Forever!’ is, “the story of a beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today’s TV celebrity culture.”

With the disbanding of the group in 2000, and only short reunion tour in 2007, we are excited to have them back on our radar. “Girl Power!”

Who is your favorite Spice Girl?

It’s Up To You New York: Celebs Turned Designers

Celebrities have great style. Every magazine or blog reading, television watching person is influenced by the fashion of the stars. So why not combine fashion and celebrities? Some fashion-forward stars have taken the leap and even started their own collections. Thus far at New York Fashion Week three designing celebs have shown their Fall 2012 collections. Read below to see more about their lines.

(L-R) L.A.M.B., Whitney Eve, Victoria Beckham

The front-woman of No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, has grown her line L.A.M.B. tremendously. Besides clothing her brand encompasses perfume, accessories and a children’s line for Target. Her NYFW Fall collection immortalizes the ’60s rock-and-roll girl, punk and yet pretty.

Reality TV sweetheart Whitney Port of MTV’s hits “The Hills” and “The City” showed at Lincoln Center this year bringing her LA style to the Big Apple. Her line Whitney Eve was a combination mixed prints, playful proportions, bursts of bold hues, and a touch of sequins.

Once a member of the Spice Girls and formerly known as Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham has long departed from her pop star days. Her latest collection has stream-lined, long and lean silhouettes with a sporty touch. Her inspiration? Her son’s baseball uniform.
