Thousands of restaurants are celebrating World Water Week by participating in UNICEF’s Tap Project. From March 19-25, restaurants across the country are asking patrons to donate $1 or more for the tap water they normally receive for free. It’s crazy to think that in the year 2012 nearly 900 million people do not have access to safe drinking water. In fact, this epidemic is the second largest killer of children under five with 4,200 children dying every day of water-related diseases. $1 can provide a child with safe drinking water for 40 days!
